This film follows an 82-year-old Tao(Yami) elder. He believes while his flesh is still warm, his mind is clear and his knees can still work, he must take his son, Syaman Mataaw and his grandson, Javogaw, into the mountains to build a canoe. Through their yourneys into the mountains and out on the sea, they’re taught the Tao(Yami) ways of life, the meanings of their culture, and the responsibilities of being a man.
This film takes a sincere look at Tao(Yami) wisdom, which is the gift that comes from the earth and the sea.
