On behalf of the NRK Sápmi team, I sincerely invite you to attend the third World Indigenous Television Broadcasting Conference, WITBC 2012, in Kautokeino, Norway.

The registration deadline for WITBC 2012 is Feb. 17. If you decide to come, we don’t promise the culture you are used to, neither the weather you are used to, the relationship to time, nor the food you are used to. What we will promise is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience and challenge your usual way of perceptions of the world. And this, www.NRK.no, is how we imagine part of your experience in Sápmi.

WITBC2012 is arranged in Norwegian part of Sápmi, the homeland of the Indigenous People in Norway, Finland, Sweden and Kola Peninsula in Russia. The main conference and the Journalism Seminar are arranged from March 25 to 30 this year.

If you choose to attend, every one of you will be our special guest. Because this isn’t going to be a big conference and seminar with hundreds and thousands of participants. No, it is not. This is going to be an event for a few hundred, specially chosen participants in a remote and scarcely populated area. Thus, the success of this event depends on you and your participation.

It may be a long way from home, even before you arrive at Oslo Airport in Norway, but that is not the end of the trip. After a brief transit, you will be welcomed and received at the Alta Airport before a two-hour drive to Kautakeino, the final destination of WITBC2012, where the sensational journey begins.

We welcome you to the land of Sami and look forward to presenting to you the unity of Indigenous knowledge in Kautakeino, Norway.
